Update on our plans with 5 weeks before we leave and our time frame we will be travelling broken Hill, Hawker, Maree, Oodnadatta Track, Ayers Rock, Coober Pedy, Port Augusta, Adelaide, Home.
With all the rain happening in South Australia and Queensland we will be watching the road conditions and will probably have another update.
Preparations is going well with one camper almost packed and the other underway. The vehicles are also underway with mods and services happening.
We are busy planning our next trip to Ayers Rock (Uluru) leaving home in April traveling through outback NSW to Cameron Corner then on to the Strzelecki track, Marree, William creek, Coober Pedy then on to Ayres Rock.
It has been a different couple of years which has prevented us from travelling, so we are finally off on our Aussie Swag get Together this time it is held at Wunglebung campground which is located about 45 min outside Tenterfield.
Wunglebung is a remote 1600 acre working cattle property on the upper Rocky River near Tenterfield
Today found us traveling through Nerrandera, on to Leeton where we visited the water story museum about the Murrumbidgee irrigation area, stopped in at the tourist information and were told about a campground down on the Gogeldrie weir about 15min out of Leeton.
This was a great little campground, very green with shady trees and clean amenities. It was then off to Griffith where we stayed a couple of days, great town with lots to see old pioneer village, lookout, wineries even a car show.
The day was once again fine and sunny so once we were packed, set off again along the snowy mountain highway toward Tumut.
Stopped at black Perry lookout, looked out over the charred trees trying to recover from the bushfires in the 2019-2020 season.
Then along the side of lake jounama, Talbingo and then a walk along the top of Blowering dam.
Lunch at Tumut, before heading off to Wagga Wagga where we caught up with Ian and Chris over a lovely dinner.
Spent part of the day at Junee Licorice and chocolate factory then out through Coolamon where we saw the old Southern Arora train which had been restored and was on a 4 day Riverina trip from Sydney.
Back to Ian and Chris’s where we stayed the night again before heading off the next morning.
We headed off down past the HMAS Albatros base , headed down the old Braidwood road , toTianjara Falls where we stopped and walked out to the lookout.
Got to Braidwood and had lunch in a park, Braidwood was very busy not quite sure what was on but good for businesses in the small town.
On the road again towards Cooma where the road turned to dirt so was quite slow going with road works and tree loppers cleaning up after the last fires. Arrived in Cooma where we set up camp in the snowy mountains tourist park , had dinner and shower the amenities were quite old but clean, we chatted to a few of the residents then to bed.
Breakfast and then packed up, heading to Adaminaby a lot of things were shut due to off season, had morning tea then turned off to Old Adaminaby which was on the edge of Lake Eucumbene . the lake is at 30% so the old
town, which had been flooded years ago, some of the old building ruins were visable , foundations, steps , paths and old relics were back in the sunlight. We were able to drive around the edge for quite a while untill we found a bush track out to the main road this led to Anglers Reach, another small village on the shore of lake Eucumbene we stopped on the waters edge amongst the dead trees that had risen out of the ever lowering water level, and had lunch before going back on the hwy to head to Yarrangobilly caves.
Just manages to get into the last tour of the Jillabean cave , was fabulous , the caves were small but interesting.
we left the caves and found ourselves on the Yarrangobilly River where we set up for the night.

Well there certainly has been a time where things use to be different to nowadays and with the uncertianty of the border lockdowns it is safer to travel in our own state, so we have been busy packing and servicing our 100 series and camper to do a small trip to outback New South Wales.
